Myofascial Release in Boulder

About Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a technique to address and treat soft tissue injuries/compensation. When injury occurs, the body lays down scar tissue to protect itself, which causes adhesions to form within the muscle. This limits the muscles ability to perform its job properly, which can lead to pain, weakness, or altered biomechanics. This scar tissue is not as durable as normal healthy tissue, so when myofascial release is performed, it can be broken up, restoring the muscles ability to perform its job.

Active Myofascial Release

This is a dynamic technique because the patient will actively engage the muscle/s that is affected. By doing this, the chiropractor can find the specific position in the movement that is causing the pain and problems. An example of this would be finding the specific position while running that is causing hip pain, or the specific spot while hitting a volleyball that causes shoulder pain.
