Shoulder Labrum Tear

The labrum is a little piece of cartilage that makes the two bones that make up your shoulder joint fit better. Without this piece of cartilage, the shoulder joint would be unstable, and easily dislocate. When trauma or overuse of the shoulder occurs, this labrum can become damaged, leading to many symptoms. Depending on the severity of the labrum damage, symptoms may be resolved by conservative measures, but some labrum injuries require surgery.

Symptoms

Common symptoms of a shoulder labrum injury are pain with movement (usually overhead), catching or clicking in the shoulder, weakness, decreased shoulder range of motion, and feeling of instability in the shoulder.

The Chiropractors at Mountainview Chiropractic Center will assess the shoulder joint as well as the surrounding structures to determine the appropriate treatment protocol for the patient.

The practitioners treat shoulder injuries by:

  • Chiropractic adjustments to restore normal joint motion
  • Myofascial release to release adhesions in damaged tissue and take stress off the affected joint
  • Rehabilitation exercises to strengthen the muscles that provide stability to the shoulder joint

We have a history of treating patients with certain shoulder labrum injuries very effectively!

We would love to help you reduce your shoulder pain!
