Quadriceps/Hamstring Strain

Quadriceps/Hamstring Strain

A strain of the quadriceps or hamstrings, aka a pulled quad/hamstring, occurs when one of these muscles becomes stretched too far and small tears occur within the muscle. These two groups of muscles are susceptible to straining because they cross multiple joints, as well as they can be used for high-intensity, explosive activity. Strains to these muscles can commonly occur if there is a loss of mobility in the legs, or if there is a build-up of scar tissue located within the muscle.

Symptoms

Common symptoms of a quadriceps/hamstring strains are pain located in the front, or back of the thigh, difficulty with movement of the affected leg, and possible bruising located around the injured tissue.

The Chiropractors at Mountainview Chiropractic Center will assess the thigh as well as the surrounding structures to determine the appropriate treatment protocol for the patient.

The practitioners treat patients with a quadriceps/hamstring strains by:

  • Chiropractic adjustments to restore normal joint motion
  • Myofascial release to release adhesions in damaged tissue and take stress off the muscle
  • Rehabilitation exercises to strengthen and provide mobility in the legs and hips
  • Discussing the importance of rest to let the muscle heal

We have a history of treating patients with thigh pain very effectively!

We would love to help you reduce your leg pain!
